Tommy Hart, A behind-the-lines, inexperienced soldier with a law background, ends up in a WWII prisoner of war camp. Because Hart's not a front-line soldier, the POW camp’s commander, McNamara, immediately suspects Hart of breaking under interrogation. McNamara, skeptical of Hart’s courage, puts Hart in charge of defending a black man against charges of murder. As he pursues justice, Hart confronts an unfair process overseen by an unfair racist commander and a stacked jury. Hart believes in the man’s innocence. As Hart searches for the courage to defend the man, he defies McNamara without the knowledge or understanding of his commanding officer’s true agenda. |
