Overview
A U.S. Army Ranger, Briggs, has been on down time from his post at the joint Fort Lewis-McChord base for a while. When he tries to return to service, he's told that he can be brought back into the game, so to speak, if he agrees to deliver a Belgian Malinois named Lulu to the funeral of her now-deceased handler, Sergeant Rodriguez, in Nogales, Arizona. The trip down from Washington state to Nogales takes one week. Briggs receives a warning: Lulu can be incredibly sweet. Lulu also can turn on you in a heartbeat. When Briggs finds himself on a trip with the sweetest little demon, he realizes that there's a lot more about Lulu and himself than he ever realized that he needed to face.
