Andy is a sports journalist who quits his job and moves to a farm in rural Vermont with his wife Elizabeth so that he can write The Great American Novel in the peace and quite of the country. It soon becomes clear, however, that the quiet country town is not the idyllic paradise that they had hoped for. Their furniture gets lost, the mailman is a maniac, and the townspeople turn out to a wacky and eccentric bunch that don't take to the new couple very easily. On top of that, Andy's novel is terrible, and Elizabeth isn't sure how to tell him. The couple struggles to maintain their sanity as conflicts with their neighbors escalate, and they start to drive each other crazy, too.
