The four rambunctious Banks children have driven away their latest nanny, and their father is at his wits' end as he writes a want ad for a strict, no-nonsense babysitter. The children compose their own advertisement, asking for a sweet-natured and fun-loving nanny instead. Their father tears up the childrens' ad and burns it in the fireplace, and the burning scraps float up into the sky. The next day, Mary Poppins flies down on her umbrella and repeats the childrens' ad to their father. Soon, to Mr. Banks' dismay, she is taking the children on exciting, magical adventures. Hilarious chaos ensues as Mary teaches important lessons to all.
