Overview
Fletch is the nickname of journalist Irwin Fletcher, who is extremely committed to his career. In the course of his investigations, he is willing to don any number of disguises, and he spends more time as someone else than he does as himself. His latest caper begins when he is dressed as a bum. Though he initially intends to study drug dealers, he stumbles onto a different story altogether. Alan Stanwyk is a wealthy man who, believing Fletch's disguise, offers him a large sum of money to kill him so that his wife can collect on his insurance policy. Fletch is of course intrigued by what could have possibly led him to this alarming request, and he embarks on a quest for another sterling story.
