Trailer | Overview Six year old Hushpuppy lives in the backwoods of the Louisiana bayou. The area is called the “bathtub” because of its proximity to a levee. Hushpuppy has no mother. Her father, who drinks heavily, can’t be relied on. Hushpuppy worries about his health. When he escapes from the hospital, they get into a fight with catastrophic results. Before they can recover from that, a terrible storm of apocalyptic proportions unleashes over the bayou. The bathtub residents refuse to leave, but once the swamp area begins to die from the ocean water that broke through the levee, they are forced to evacuate. This is a disorienting experience for Hushpuppy, who ends up looking for her mother and then attending to her father as he dies. |
