An idyllic vacation to Malaysia, filled with fun, women, alcohol and hashish, is shared by three friends. When the time comes to take up their ordinary lives again, they part ways--two returning to the United States, while one young man remains in Malaysia with plans to study the wild primate populations. The two only discover how sadly awry his plans have gone when, years later, they are visited by a lawyer who relates the young man's tragic story. Only days after their respective departure, the camp where the three were living is raided by Malaysian authorities. When large amounts of hashish are discovered, the one who decided to stay behind must accept culpability. The lawyer informs the two that unless they return to the island and share the blame, their friend faces execution in eight days time. |
