Overview
Twenty-one year old John Merrick finds himself as a freak in a traveling circus; the only real job he can get in his condition. Thankfully, Dr. Frederick Treves manages to run across the circus and feels that he can do something to help the struggling man. The problem is, the circus owner only sees dollar signs where Merrick is concerned, and seeing that John has terrible deformities; an oversized skull, oversized appendages, and growths all over his body, he doesn’t see that Treves stands a chance. As Treves gets to know Merrick, and takes him under his care, he discovers that the young man is intelligent and deserving of a better life. However, as he treats Merrick, many begin to wonder if the popularity Merrick is getting is helping or causing more harm.
