In the summer of 1965, an Iowa housewife named Francesca is home alone after her family leaves to go the state fair for a few days. When photographer Robert Kincaid takes a wrong turn and ends up at her house to get directions, their lives will be forever changed. Francesca decides to go with Robert to show him where the bridge is that he needs to photograph. A once-in-a-lifetime passion soon develops between the two. When this four-day romance ends too soon, she has to decide whether to stay or run off with Robert. She hesitantly stays with her family and writes about her secret love affair in journals. When her kids find the journals after her passing, their lives change in unexpected ways. |
