Overview
Mayhem ensues when Klingon Chancellor Gorkon is murdered while on board the U. S. S. Enterprise for a diplomatic meeting. Captain Kirk, who hates Klingons, and Doctor McCoy, who tried to save the chancellor's life, go on trial and are given life imprisonment in a brutal prison. Any escape attempt seems hopeless because of the frigid temperatures of the environment outside. While Kirk and McCoy stick together and befriend an alien who may be able to help them, Spock investigates whether his friends were wrongly accused. In the process, he orders the ship to plot a course for the penal colony where Kirk and McCoy are imprisoned, hoping that he will be able to come to their rescue.
