Overview
Hester Collyer endures a marriage without passion to a judge of the High Court in post-war England. But she finds the passion and erotic pleasure she has been searching for after a chance encounter with Freddie, who served as a Royal Air Force pilot during the war. When Freddie seeks to end their highly charged sexual alliance, Hester becomes obsessed with keeping him in her life but her desperate actions only serve to alienate her even further from her dispassionate spouse as well as her troubled lover.
