When ex-con Joe Braxton violates his parole, the future looks bleak until he is given a second chance. He is hired by school teacher Vivian Perry to repair an old bus and drive a group of special children from their group home in Philadelphia which is being shut down to a new life on a farm in rural Washington. Though he's glad to not be back in prison, Joe is less than excited to make this trip and doesn't care for the children. As they cover the miles together, Joe begins to bond with the children and with Vivian. When Donald, Vivian's ex-boyfriend and the man who gave Joe his second chance, shows up and tries to send everyone back to Philadelphia, it's up to the kids to save the day and keep their new life on the farm.
