Overview
Paul returns home from World War 2 and is attracted to a woman he meets on the bus. She is on her way home from college to help the family with their grape harvest. She is worried about facing her overprotective father, because she is pregnant and unmarried. Paul offers to pretend to be the baby's father so her father won't be angry. Victoria and Paul end up falling in love during the harvest. The pair confront the father, Alberto who is not happy about the news. Alberto is a man intent on old Mexican traditions and doesn't like Paul. When Paul proclaims his love for Victoria to Alberto, a fight between the two quickly escalates. This confrontation leads to the fields catching on fire.
