Overview
James Graham, a young British aristocrat is parted with his family at the beginning of World War II. The Japanese invade Shanghai, and he is caught and imprisoned in the Soo Chow detainment camp. He learns to admire both the Japanese and the American pilots they took prisoner, and he attempts to build a life for himself despite the horrors of prison camp life. He is an uplifting influence to those around him, and when the war is over he embarks on a quest to find his lost family.
