Overview
A young man who has been burdened with unrequited love decides to write down his experiences. He tells the tale of a man who doesn't believe in true love that meets a beautiful young lady at a charitable dinner while he pretending he is a philanthropist. When she turns out to be engaged he is spurned by his competitive nature and the encouragement of his friends to win her over anyway. He decides to nurture a platonic relationship so he may keep her company as he tries to win her over. In the meantime he is shocked to discover that he is slowly falling for her himself.
