Overview
During the Nanking massacure, China is overrun by the invading Japanese army. American, John Miller, finds himself in charge of a group of frightened schoolgirls that are pupils of the local Catholic convent school. The head priest is dead. Orphan, George, also survives. Miller assumes the identity of a priest to protect the children. If he can get the school's truck working, they can make their escape. Miller gets assurances from Colonel Hesegawa that the survivors and convent will be protected from harm. Thirteen surviving girls are ordered to perform at a victory celebration. The children attempt suicide, but are stopped. Local prostitutes and George volunteer to take their places at the performance. Miller uses his mortician skills to change their appearance. The real schoolgirls can now escape.
