Overview
Hercules is the legendary son of Zeus, usually portrayed as living amongst the gods after succeeding in his earthly challenges. However, here he is portrayed as giving up his immortality and continuing to battle both human and godly evil on Earth. He is despised by Hera, the wife of Zeus, because he is the product of Zeus's infidelity with a mortal woman, and is therefore often given earthly trials and challenges created by Hera. Hercules wanders the Earth, accompanied by human and mortal friends, notable Iolaus, who falls in love with Xena. Xena is a warrior princess who attempts to turn Iolaus against Hercules, but eventually falls for Hercules himself. Hercules and his mortal friends journey beyond Greece, searching for the next adventure and battle.
