Overview
When the vikings of the island of Berk settle in for their first peaceful winter solstice celebration of Snoggletog, something strange happens: All of their new dragon allies take wing and fly off! Toothless, the dragon of Hiccup, stays behind and even he wants to leave. Unable to fly without assistance, Hiccup lets him leave after making a prosthetic tail. Later, Astrid discovers dragon eggs around the village, and Hiccup follows the dragons to a volcanic island where they discover the reason for the mysterious migration: Dragon eggs hatch around the shortest day of the year. Hiccup and Toothless lead the dragons back to Berk, towing a ship full of newly hatched dragons, while Astrid keeps the villagers calm on the holiday, and Toothless reaffirms his friendship for Hiccup.
