Primatologist Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas attempts to save orangutans from the destruction of their natural habitat in the jungles of Borneo. She raises orphaned orangutan babies in a special sanctuary in an effort to preserve the species. With the end goal of releasing adult orangutans back into the wild, she must teach the babies to be self-sufficient so they can survive on their own. Meanwhile, conservationist Dr. Daphne M. Sheldrick rescues orphaned baby elephants in Kenya after their parents are killed by poachers.
