Overview
In the 1950s, Ip Man and his family flee Foshan for Hong Kong. Ip Man starts a Wing Chun school in the crowded martial arts district of town but quickly finds it difficult to earn a living due to his lack of reputation in the community. In an effort to promote his Wing Chun style of martial arts, Ip Man attempts to join a police protected martial arts coalition but is not welcome. After an intentional death occurs at a match, Ip Man is forced to enter a widely publicized fighting event against the British boxing champion, Taylor "The Twister" Milos. The people of Hong Kong put their hopes on Ip Man to defend the honor of traditional Chinese martial arts against boxing.
