Overview
This musical comedy focuses on the life of the Smith family, including their four daughters and one son, during the time that the city of St. Louis hosts the 1904 World's Fair. But the family is upset when the patriarch, Alonzo Smith, says he's accepted a job transfer to New York City, meaning that they have to relocate there and miss this grand event. Daughter Esther is especially distraught because she is in love with the boy next door and doesn't want their budding romance to end so suddenly. When Mr. Smith sees how adversely a move at this time would affect each family member, he cancels their relocation plans and the family is able to attend the World's Fair festivities after all.
