Overview
This drama is based on the life of Teena Brandon, born female in Nebraska, who consciously chooses to experience life as a man named Brandon Teena. By the age of 20, Brandon strikes out from Lincoln to begin life anew in nearby Falls City. Although his best friend warns him that his sexual orientation will face numerous obstacles in this community, Brandon pursues a variety of relationships with locals, ultimately settling down with Candace. Then teenager Lana enters the picture and she and Brandon quickly become involved. He befriends an ex-con named John and is accepted as a friend. But the house of lies on which Brandon has built his life soon comes tumbling down after he is arrested, his secret revealed and tragedy ensues.
