Bessie has spent the past almost two decades caring for her invalid father following his devastating stroke. In all that time, she’s had almost no contact with her sister Lee, who took off when things got rough. Now Bessie finds herself ill and in trouble. She has been diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. Tired and stressed, she turns to her estranged sister Lee, not sure what her sister’s reaction will be. In her turn, Lee decides to go to her emotionally troubled son Hank, currently in the hospital after trying to set a house fire, and ask him to help the Aunt he’s never met. The trio comes together and slowly and almost imperceptibly some difficult reconciliations begin.
