Overview
While undergoing a colonoscopy, Bertram Pincus, a sarcastic, cynical New York dentist, nearly dies. After recovery, Bertram finds that he now has the irritating ability to see ghosts, who all want him to help them with unfinished personal problems. One of the ghosts, Frank Herlihy, a businessman, assures Bertram that he can make the other ghosts go away if Bertram will agree to break up the impending marriage between Gwen, Herlihy’s widow, and Richard, a human-rights lawyer. Frank hates Richard, believing him to be a dishonest gold-digger. Bertram agrees but then begins to fall for Gwen. Initially, Gwen likes Bertram for his sense of humor but eventually gets turned off by his seemingly outlandish stories about Frank and runs away. Bertram chases after her but gets hit by a bus and becomes a ghost himself.
