Chet Ripley, a fun-loving Chicago businessman and devoted father and husband, just wants a special lakeside vacation with his wife Connie and two sons. They pull up to a delightful cabin in the woods to relish the beautiful nature when trouble shows up in the form of Connie's sister Kate and her scheming, brash, arrogant husband Roman, along with their twin daughters. Chet's plans for a relaxing family time get compromised by Roman's penchant to do things his own way and his constant harping on Chet to live life more adventurously. Tensions rise and a chasm develops between the families until the twins go missing and everyone works together to find them and bring them back to safety. In the end everyone bonds and leaves the lake with a new appreciation of family.
