Set in pre-World War II, 1939, Lady Sarah Ashley makes the journey from England to northern Australia in hopes of persuading her cheating husband to sell his cattle ranch. Instead, she ends up inheriting the ranch when her husband is killed shortly before she arrives. With little knowledge of cattle, she enlists the help of Dover, an experienced cattle driver who ends up helping her keep her property out of the hands of the English cattle barons. While herding 2,000 cattle across the dangerous Australian outback, they witness the Japanese bombing of Darwin, in response to their brutal attack on Pearl Harbor a few months back.
