Overview
"Star Trek: Generations" is the first of the Star Trek movies to focus on the characters of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." It bridges the two crews, since it features characters from the original "Star Trek" series, most notably James Kirk, who disappears in the first few minutes and resurfaces later to work with Captain Jean-Luc Picard to prevent a plot that would cause extensive destruction. A curious phenomenon known as The Nexus drives the conflict. People trapped within it live in a state of perfect harmony and can inhabit whatever memories make them happiest. The villain is so desperate to return there that he is willing to sacrifice countless lives, but the captains, with the help of ship counselor Guinan, aim to thwart him.
