Mama Joe, the head of a large family clan, upholds the forty year tradition of serving sumptuous soul food dinners every Sunday. Along with a delicious outlay of soul food dishes, the film serves up a host of family issues including jealousy, sibling rivalry and infidelity. When the family matriarch tragically dies, the strong bonds of family begin to disintegrate and underlying problems come to the surface. Amid the squabbling, young grandson Ahmad decides to restore unity to the family by bringing back Mama Joe’s tradition of family dinners. The family must now learn to gradually piece back the fabric torn by family dissension and try to return to happier days. |
