In this comedy, Ben Sobel is a psychiastrist who is somewhat bored with his neurotic clients. His son delights in spying on the not-so-private patients. As he prepares for his upcoming Florida wedding, a car crash puts a unique opportunity in his life; he has a run-in with a car belonging to godfather-type mob boss Don Paul Vitti. In the midst of his own problems, including guilt regarding his father's murder as well as anxiety attacks, Vitti becomes Sobel's more-than-full-time patient. Summoned at all hours of the day in an array of locations, Sobel must help the Don, who is also having a power struggle within his ranks. Don Vitti learns the jargon of the feel-good techniques and Sobel soon becomes involved with the Feds.
