After his mother dies in an accident, a teenage boy named Jeff moves to Maine with his father, a veterinarian named Chase. Jeff learns that his new town is home to a Native American burial ground that is rumored to bring people and animals back to life. He has a friend named Drew with a cruel stepfather who works as a sheriff. When the sheriff guns down Drew's dog Zowie, the two boys bury the dog in the Indian cemetery. Zowie soon emerges from the grave but behaves much differently. Chase attempts to treat the dog's injury and makes some strange discoveries. The situation becomes more dangerous and complicated when Drew's stepfather attacks him in the burial ground and faces Zowie's wrath.
