Overview
Paulie, a neglected bird living in a research institute, tells the story of his struggles to a Russian immigrant. Given as a gift to a small child with a stutter, Paulie teaches the girl to speak properly. Sadly, Paulie is taken away from his best friend when her father decides his daughter cannot separate reality from fantasy. A series of adventures ensues as Paulie teams up with an ageing widow, a pawn shop owner, and a troubadour. The intelligent parrot eventually ends up in the institute, recounting his tales to the Russian janitor.
