Overview
Jack Butler is married with three children. One day he gets laid off from his job as an auto engineer in Detroit. He tells his wife, Caroline, he will look for a new job and work around the house while he is looking. Caroline says she will look for a job, too, and ends up getting an offer before Jack. She goes to work for an advertising agency, while Jack stays home and learns how to take care of his three kids and the house. His wife's divorced friend, Joan, begins to take an interest in Jack. Jack becomes depressed about his wife's success and envisions all sorts of soap opera scenarios. After a misunderstanding with her boss, Caroline and Jack work things out.
