Overview
In magical Mexico, Tita and Pedro fall in love. Tita’s mother forbids the match and persuades Pedro to marry Tita’s sister Rosaura instead. However, Tita finds that she can’t give up her passion for Pedro. It translates to the food she cooks for their wedding and then later for an ordinary meal. All the feelings she pours into the food translate to those who eat it, with magical and sometimes tragical results. Eventually, Tita’s mother sends her away, fearing that she is trying to sabotage her sister’s marriage. Tita agrees to marry a doctor who cares for her. He warns her that her passions can literally start fires. In a tragic and magical ending, that turns out to be true.
