Overview
James' idyllic life on the English coast abruptly ends when his parents are killed by what he thinks was a rhinocerus. Two unpleasant aunts become his guardians and James is forced to work in excess both inside and outside their home. Rescuing a spider one day, he is given magic by a kind stranger which leads to a giant peach growing in the garden. Inside the oversized piece of fruit, he meets the spider he saved as well as her friends. These new friends aid James in his quest to get to New York City, a wish he had shared with his parents. Through this adventure, he gains confidence and learns that while facing adversity is never easy, once you persevere you can overcome anything.
