Herbie is a lovable VW bug who has an illustrious career as a race car. His driver, Jim Douglas, takes him to Monte Carlo in order to race him in the big event down there, but they meet with all sorts of complications. Jim's friend Wheely is on hand to help avert any disasters, but he meets with little success. Herbie falls in love with another race car, and he loses most of his interest in the race. Meanwhile, Jim falls for that car's driver, so love is thick in the air and extremely distracting. Somehow, they manage to focus on the race, but what they don't realize is that some thieves have stashed a massive diamond in Herbie and now want to retrieve it. |
