Hunt Stevenson works as an executive at a car-producing plant in Pennsylvania, but change occurs when Assan Motors, a Japanese company, takes over the factory. Immediately the new bosses and a foreign work habit cause friction between Hunt and the crew of American workers who struggle to understand the borderline maniacal way they are expected to work. Hunt becomes caught in the middle and serves as the mediator between management and labor. To justify keeping the plant open, management wants 15,000 new cars produced in one month's time. Hunt brokers this deal but tells the crew that they only need to make 13,000 cars. The labor force churns out the cars and falls short of the required 15,000 mark, but they impress management enough with their spirit to keep the plant open.
